Fallen: A Loose Series Exploring Sea Fantasy and Emotions
"Fallen" is a series that sort of just "happened." The original piece is a graphite drawing on illustration board; it will never be sold, for I love it too much, and will soon be made available for viewing here online. As for the subject, it revolves around people being cursed into various sea creatures. The first piece is of a man falling deep into the ocean mid-transformation into a type of fish/merman hybrid, and loses his identity by losing his face.
The first and second in the series, Alone and Lack of Redemption are digital paintings and are available for sale on Etsy.com. "Alone" is about a woman filled with bitterness and loneliness, and has been cursed to share the form of a Portuguese man of war. On the flipside, "Lack of Redemption" is about a woman who is also lonely, but is filled with regret for she believes she deserved it. She has been cursed into a lagoon jellyfish.
None of the pieces in this series has a definied cause for the subject's curse, as I wanted to focus on the emotions of the characters. I believe that by leaving the reasons for their curses open to one's imagination, one can create their own story in their mind as to how the person came to be in this situation, and therefore create reflection on the emotions in each piece.
